Henderson
County Texas Henderson Co. was established on April 27, 1846, and named it in honor of James Pickney Henderson, (1808-1858) first governor of the state of Texas. The county was formed from parts of Nacogdoches and Houston counties, it was organized on August 4, 1846. Kaufman and Van Zandt counties were formed out of Henderson Co. in 1848. Athens is the county seat. Welcome to the Henderson County TXGenWeb site.
